What is Desirial® Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Desirial® is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid dermal filler product that has been developed specifically for the treatment of female vulvovaginal conditions such as vaginal atrophy.

Treatment with Desirial is also marketed as a non-surgical labioplasty, in which injectables are used to add volume to the labia majora.

What does it contain?

Desirial contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid that is made using IPN-like® (Interpenetrated Network) technology. Desirial is easy to inject and the higher density of its cross-linking nodes makes it durable. This method requires less BDDE (a common compound used in cross-linking hyaluronic acids) which, according to the company, is more effective and results in a safer, longer-lasting product.

Desirial has also been combined with an antioxidant, mannitol, which is naturally present in nature in celery, olives and raspberries and is used to reduce the side effects of hyaluronic acid injection, namely redness and swelling. When a needle is inserted into the skin, a free radical reaction is triggered, which can cause a deleterious reaction within the hyaluronic gel. The presence of mannitol, the “free radical scavenger”, limits the effects of free radicals in the injected product, thus reducing the risk of post-injection inflammation and preventing the degradation of the structure of hyaluronic acid gels by the body so quickly that it lasts longer.

What is Desirial® used for?

Desirial® is indicated for:

1. Recover the firmness and turgidity of the intimate area: through subcutaneous injections in the labia majora, they are naturally and anatomically remodelled, recovering the loss of tension in the external tissue.
2. Reduce dryness and vaginal itching: with only small intradermal injections, we manage to rehydrate and stimulate the intimate area, which will provide comfort both on a daily basis and when carrying out any type of physical and sexual activity.
3. Treatment for mild or moderate hypertrophy: a partial reconstruction of the labia majora is achieved. When the hypertrophy is very severe, it is common to have to combine the treatment with other more specific protocols. Its mechanism of action is filling and remodelling.
4. Long-lasting results: apart from containing reticulated hyaluronic acid, Desirial also contains Mannitol, a substance that prevents the generation of free radicals and delays the degradation of the hyaluronic acid injected. Therefore, the results of the treatment are more lasting in time.

The price of a Desirial® vaginal rejuvenation treatment depends on a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to the doctor’s fees and qualifications, the price of consultations (pre- and post-treatment), treatment sessions, etc.
